FLM Algarve – Rounds 4 & 5

by adrian on Aug.06, 2009, under News

After two difficult qualifying sessions, Valle started race one from 6th position and Mathias race 2 from 5th.

Valle made a superb start in race 1 and fought his way up to a fantastic 2nd position before his pit-stop and handing over to his team mate Mathias. Unfortunately their in-car radio was not working and Mathias had no idea when to leave the pits. Each car must stop for a minimum of 80 seconds and without receiving a coutdown from his chief engineer, Mathias gambled and left the pits slightly early. This then led to a drive-through penalty and they finished race 1 in 5th position.

Race 2 was again a hard battle and Mathias and Valle drove their way up to a well earned 3rd place and their 4th podium finish in 5 races. They have retained their 2nd position in the Championship standings, but must win during the next two rounds at the Nurburgring if they are to stand any chance of taking this years Formula Le Mans Championship.
